Please post your get well soon ali posts here. The poor dude is stuck in the ERI. Those of you who have been in a hospital will know how much being in one sucks.
Porty - ali has put in a special request for an argument between you and me as he is - and I quote - "bored".
He has also intimated that he hasn't eaten since Monday so I suggest we argue about food.
Here goes.
"My mum's chips were better than your mum's chips" - discuss.

Has anyone sampled both Mum's chips?
I prefer jacket spuds.

I make much better chips than my mum ever did. Chunky, twice cooked and to say they are tasty would be an understatement. I imagine someone like Ali would love my chips, coated in sea salt and dipped in Baxters rich tomato chutney or maybe fresh salsa mmmm ,mmmm.
What do you thisnk would go well with my chips?

Ali
Hope you feel better soon.
My favs are potato wedges cooked in the oven with olive oil and a bit of smoked paprika - yum and served with sour cream to dip.
Just think Ali you are having your pre Xmas detox!
Get well soon

Only twice cooked, Porty? Oh dear. It's got to be thrice in the Priest household: one boiling, 2 fryings. Then swallowed without any chewing, preferably with a side order of fried bat, and washed down with the still boiling oil. Lovely.
Get well soon Ali.

Hope this is worth 4p a minute Ali!
What a sympathetic lot we have on this board!
PS
Porty, I do the 'double frying' thing too. Gives nice, crispy golden brown chips with a fluffy inside. Delicious

Ali, I ate in that restaurant for 10 days earlier this year, and I can assure you that the chips are rubbish. Not as bad as Porty's though.

Ali, you haven't got time to be bored. You've still got just over an hour left of your free access to the digital archive - time for a few more searches surely?
You need something to take your mind off food. Any cute nurses?

I think if you're being forced to fast, any chips would be good chips. Glucose drip and chips...don't think it'll catch on somehow!
Hope you're coping Ali and I would join you in your fast but I'm a bit peckish and just about to eat a lovely, buttered fruit scone with my morning coffee

I am tucking into a nice soft, doughy roll filled with strong cheese and a large dollop of Ali's home made chilli jam. Yummy.
Sorry, Ali but I have to keep my strength up for all these trips to the hossie.

What a great word Rupunzell. I used to have the hots for an older woman, I wasn't quite sure how to describe the attraction but now I know. She is droolworthy.

I'm home. Relieved and eating like Hungry Horace. I won't go in to details but what an experience. Everything they say about the NHS is true - both good and bad. The staff are, without exception, angels and make a difficult experience as untraumatic as they possibly can. The conditions they are working under, though are, even in a brand new hospital like the ERI, terrible. I saw some unbelievable things and its almost enough to make you sign up with BUPA - and that is something for me to say.
Thanks again for all the messages of support (and chip recipes!).
PS apologies for the bad grammar, spelling and punctuation in my hospital posts and PM's. It's amazing how your brain falters when there is no protein to fuel it. I couldn't concentrate on reading the paper or watching telly and had real trouble putting sentences together. The internet access was very slow and via a tiny keyboard built in to the back of the TV remote!!!

Welcome home.
When I was in, it was the lack of sleep that got me. I was very, very happy to go home.

Well, they ruled out a couple of things - so that was good. Just got to eat less, stop the fags, take more exercise, chill - the usual sort of advice to middle-aged codgers like me.
