We have already had ours

It was last Saturday at Peebles Hydro and was quite good.

Although we did have one a few years ago and the only date we could get was the last Saturday in November, a bit strange when the balloons come down at the end of the night and people shout Merry Christmas

As a Sole Trader I will be buying a bottle of Buckie from Kost Koncious and heading down to the prom to sit on a bench

OK, I am going out with the Glory Days mob to the Living Room (George Street I think). Softy is paying so it will be more enjoyable

Meeting up with escapees/current inmates of an old workplace, which will be quite lovely.

Current crew - there will certainly be non-management drinkies somewhere in Broughton Street, but I ain't going to anything organised.

Ed - you can combine the two - I remember a hotel xmas do (Caledonian? the big red hotel at the west end) where we had wur own Buckie under the table. I couldn't focus on the xmas pudding.

We also do a secret santa. One year one of the female bosses got a natty trio of satin thongs and was most happy and excited

And then a department night the week before Christmas at Cuba Norte... Must remember not to even think about dancing.

TMP staff are heading off to Newcastle for the night next friday. Leaving on the 10:30am train and coming back next day. Its going to be a long one. Dinner at Paradiso at 7pm, if we can still stand by then that is.

We're going to Fisher's at the Shore next week. Went last year and it was brilliant. Superb food. Flexible attentive service. Nothing like the usual "Slap the food down - get them out as soon as pos" carry on.

My colleagues are all wonderful fun and I'm really looking forward to it.

We will also be competing for the annual highly prestigious Father Christmas trophy (supplied by a local charity shop no doubt) whereby colleagues submit certain information and people guess who's who. Oh what fun we have.

This year the questions include: First single / lp / cd you can remember buying; Have you ever / do you collect something - if so what?; If you went on Mastermind what would you answer questions on?

(My boss sometimes reads this and will have identified me so I'd just like to point out I'm doing this in my lunch break)

I had my first works do last Friday night...

Great food but weird crowd!

Next Wednesday I'm off to The Lot in the Grassmarket - which I'd never heard of - with my agency, then the following Monday it's the Dome, and the day after that a Christmas thing for another group I'm in, at someone's house.

We were at the Living Room last year, and I hated it. We couldn't hear each other speak and the food was not good - had to send the steak back twice, and in the end just couldn't eat it. I don't recommend the steak.

Bellybabe: funny you should say that about your steak at the Living Room. I was there a couple of weeks ago for a birthday party and ordered a burger (didn't much like the choices on menu), so thought that would be a safe choice. Specified it to be very well done. When it came out, and I bit into it, it was practically still mooing! Yuck. Sent it back, and it arrived back about 15 minutes later when everyone had finished and I had lost my appetite.
And they charge a fortune for their food. Cheek!!
Good thing about Living Room is trying to see who has had surgery/botox!!!

I could not agree more. Definitely the favourite eating haunt of Mr & Mrs PoP.

Off to Filling Station on Rose St (used to be Yo Sushi!) on Sat, not looking forward to the food that much but is a good crowd so should be good.

Then off to the Quayside following Friday with another 150+ Scottish Widows peeps (nb to all: avoid Musselburgh next Friday

), not a 'official' works organised night, funnily enough, but a couple of girls who organise one every year. Always popular, and should be good - and well within staggering difference for me....for a change!

Went there once, where we had fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic for a pre-main nibble. Had to be the worst oil/vinegar ever, more like malt vinegar and vegetable oil and vile. They'd obviously thought they'd just use the cheapest of the cheap, but with oil and vinegar you can really taste the difference in price!

Our works night out is tonight and as you can see I'm not there (party pooper yet again) Our "department" usually prefers do it's own thing so we are having a lunch out instead on the last day of term at Mama Romas.............not a turkey in sight

Dog walkers society night out is tomorrow at Sizzlers, their menu looks very nice so looking forward to that and not far to roll home.

Being the grumpy sod (can I say sod?) I am though, I'm coming back tomorrow evening. I would rather not spend any more time with the reprehensible x!Â£?!s I call my "colleagues" than necessary.

The various small companies in our building usually have combined parties, so tomorrow lunch time, 12 of us "girls". are heading off to Crieff Hydro for an overnight party. On the 20th a multi sex day out starting with lunch at "Librizzi" in Queen Street. Then our own wee office of 4, going out on Friday 16th at night starting at "Roti" in Rose Street Lane....phew I'm exhausted just thinking about it

I am very fortunate in that i work for several people, and as such, have several nights out: one of the people i work for takes me to a health spa for the day every year. epykat will argue that this is so that i can be seen naked, but those in the know would strenuously deny it. i am looking forward to being pampered, but i don't expect miracles.

PoP and I should invest in a company dog.

Went out with the PFPRFC vets last night. Whiggams for their xmas menu it was excellent, then onto Harry's Bar which appears to have turned into teh Cavendish.

Will anyone own up to having been in 'Jurassic Park' recently? I used to go to exercise classes there when it was 'Coasters', but hadn't been across the threshold (or to an exercise class come to think of it!!) for years until about 5 years ago. A group of us had been out for a staff meal at 'The Point Hotel' and thought it would be a laugh to visit the 'Grab a Granny' night.
It certainly lived up to my expectations. Cattle market doesn't start to describe it. I tell you, a girl need never be lonely in Edinburgh so long as the Cavendish exists

Mind you, you'd have to abandon all standards at the door along with your coat.
PS
Even the taxi driver who drove me home slagged me off about being in the 'Cavendish'
