You think you've had a bad day? What about my week?
Thursday - work finally starts on our flood-beleaguered kitchen, only for another leak to be found, delaying work further.
Friday - I drop my iPod on the floor at Dublin airport - since then it has lost its battery charge every 2 hours.
Sunday - Mrs Priest, Baby Priest and I return from a walk on the prom to find that we only have my set of keys, which is minus the keys we gave to the workmen on thursday. We are saved by MICA Woodwares, who sell me the tools to break into our flat, and then sell me a lock to replace the previous one.
Monday - We discover a large dent in the driver's side door of our car, into which somebody has kindly crashed into when it was parked, and driven off without leaving any note of guilt/insurance details etc. Thanks! Not!
Tuesday - I return home to find that I have not put my new keys onto the keyfob. Luckily, I am rescued by a passing Bearcub. Thanks BC!
Wednesday a.m. - On cycling over the crossroads at the Meadowbank end of Regents Road, I start to feel every groove and contour of the road beneath my ass. Yes - the back wheel has a puncture, and I have to drag my reluctant bicycle for 40 minutes until I arrive at work.
Wednesday p.m. - While babysitting and therefore housebound, I discover that we have virtually no food in the house. I reach for the phone to call Cinnamon Indian Takeaway to request their marvellous delivery service, but I replace the handset before I have made the order, the prospective scorn from Mr Bob Jefferson ringing in my ears. I eat dry bread instead, tears streaming silently down my face.
Today - Nothing bad has happened. Yet.
Porty, I fully sympathise with your plight. Especially the gout. You will have to keep off the christmas pudding and port this yuletide season.
