Cats and Christmas trees
Advice needed please. How do you dissuade your cat from climbing up the Christmas tree?

I am sure I have seen for sale before, actual Lion Dung in a package for this very purpose, i.e. dissuading cats from doing stuff.Arachnid wrote:I can just picture you with your " Tuppaware"box and a shovel tring to scoop up dung in the lion's den!!!
Other thing I would suggest is orange peel.

Buy a Lion Bar. Put it at the bottom of the tree. If that doesn't work, try throwing the Lion Bar at the cat next time it tries to climb up.Marya wrote:Thanks for the suggestions of orange oils/peel. I'd never heard of that before and it sounds much more attractive than lion's dung
If that doesn't work, just eat the Lion Bar.

I am willing to offer the services of my 1 year old son Jack who will stand guard at the base of your tree and by attempting to "be friends" with your cat will in effect scare it away. Problem solved.
I dont really know how you would deal with the "baby touching your tree" problem that you would then have?

Tie a rope round the baby and attach it to something so that it can guard the tree without reaching it. An interesting problem which might first call for some graph paper, a protracter, and a quick call to social services.Ed wrote:I am willing to offer the services of my 1 year old son Jack who will stand guard at the base of your tree and by attempting to "be friends" with your cat will in effect scare it away. Get rid of the cat.
*ducks quickly*
Lily ignores the tree but I did find her chewing on a light bulb on a low branch the other, and she's 8 - you'd think she might have realised by now. But then all that inbreeding makes for tiny brains.

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Being so much more mature this year, Selma has decided that climbing the tree is so 'last year'
. She's obviously decided that knocking the cards off the mantlepiece is more 'in'. We used to find that jumping up and down, shouting loudly and clapping your hands.......gave the cat a good laugh.
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!
I've noticed that the lovely Selma is very good at supervising the binmen first thing in the morming - she's SOOOOO sweet!!Epykat wrote:Being so much more mature this year, Selma has decided that climbing the tree is so 'last year'. You don't miss anything locally do you ... especially involving bins!!!Poppy wrote:I've noticed that the lovely Selma is very good at supervising the binmen first thing in the morming - she's SOOOOO sweet!!Epykat wrote:Being so much more mature this year, Selma has decided that climbing the tree is so 'last year'. I think you guys have taken "Neighbourhood Watch" to mean "watch your neighbours".
I awoke this morning to find Poppy at the bottom of my garden under one of those SAS camouflage net things, looking at my curtains and bin through tripod-mounted binoculars.
Talk about the Popparazzi treatment. What's next - Sandra and Marya doing helicopter flights? Epykat in a spy satellite?

1. That's what it DOES mean, foolish boy!Dadaist wrote:I think you guys have taken "Neighbourhood Watch" to mean "watch your neighbours".

2.
3. Epykat did use a 'copter to get into the Virtual Big Brother house, so nothing would surprise me about that one - and her Mr Krook type cat.
