Welcome back Lawrence

Post by Guest » 18 Mar 2004, 18:09

I hope that I will not be accused of political bias in welcoming back Lawrence Marshall to the discussion forum. We are all a little more enlightened as a result of his posts today.

As in any community, a small core of people in key positions have privileged information about what is going on locally. The sharing of information (and opinion) is what the forum is all about and that is why we need people like Lawrence, John Stewart and others like them to participate.

We ALL want to know what is happening in the community that we care about, and what is being planned for it.

Now, how about that column you promised us :?:

welcome back?

welcome back Lawrence - I never knew he had gone away! - I thought giving out information is part of a Councillor's job - we don't need to be grateful - no offence - I would say that about any Party's Councillor - including my own Party's Councillor -

on a general point and not aimed at any particular councillor, I do think its a bit odd and unfair that Councillors want £25,000 for a Part Time job but yet will not pay nursery nurses more than £13,800 (start on £10,000c after 2 yrs training) for a Full Time and equally if not more responsible job, and who look after the welfare and education of our young children. - more on this point later, on the Political Thread - which Bob could set up if I don't get around to it soon -
too tired from campaigning but will perk up again shortly - almost certainly for Sat's Demo Against The Continuing Occupation of Iraq and against war, - 10.30 Glasgow - George Sq - see www.banthebomb.org or www.edinburghstw.org.uk

as many people are realising these are two sides of the same coin - no money to pay mainly a women workforce on very poor pay, to look after children (women's work after all!huh), to pay PCS Union members who are very low (start £9,000) paid, (Benefits Workers DSS), or pay pensioners a decent pension etc and yet £6 billion min. spent on killing people in Iraq.....and a continuing unwanted occupation of Iraq which costs us £5 million per week in the UK alone & look at the chaos - so if you wonder why your Council Tax is so high, or you're not getting much of a pay rise, or Council services like Schools and Community Centres are being shut or handed over to private finance, here's your main reason.....and have Bush and Blair made the world a safer place by bombing and killing 20,000 men, women and children in Iraq not to mention Afghanistan? clearly not ....
