HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Brilliant time first outside Kitcheners, really great atmosphere and lots and lots of people. Was surprised though that Bob didn't have that video camera going

though Bellybabe's brother was taking lots and lots of pictures.

Lovely sausages and pies courtesy of Epykat - which were unexpected and very nice!

We all sang Auld Lang Syne too. Then we progressed to prom which was amazing - lots of fireworks and bonfires and really great people - much much better than a Princes Street Hogmanay! One of the flats on ground floor on prom had speaker out of window - Belle Stars I think - it was fab.

Great to meet Rapunzell

(thanks for the choccies - very yummy) and her lovely friend James

Had such a great night - far too early to go to bed!!

Had great time at bells (Police Station/Kitcheners - start of something big??), then down the Prom for fireworks/bonfires. Said Happy New Year to 2 'polis' after leaving Rapunzel, well it is New Year!!

Was great seeing so many folk outside Kitchener's last night and apologies to anyone who had the misfortune to catch the sight of my son throwing up during the singing of Auld Lang Syne. The poor wee soul is still ill now. Not a great start to 2006 for him

It was a shame we had to miss out on the bonfires down the Prom but thanks to a few first-footers, Homer and I managed to party on a bit longer at home.

Hope it's a good one and that only nice things happen for you all

And to whom it may concern who read this!!!

'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house, nothing would fit me, not even a blouse; The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste, at the holiday parties had gone to my waist; When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber), I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared, The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared; The wine and the rum balls; the bread and the cheese, and the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please." As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt, and prepared once again to do battle with dirt, I said to myself, as only I can, "You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!" So, away with the last of the sour cream dip. Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip. Every last bit of food that I like must be banished, 'til all the additional ounces have vanished. I won't have a cookie--not even a lick. I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick. I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie, I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore, But isn't that what January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Happy New Year POL people!!

Last night was splendid: good weather, good company, bells, singing, fireworks, whisky, chocolate, bonfires and waves. It was lovely to meet so many real live Porty people and be repeatedly spladooshed : )

I think that next year we should add an invigorating New Year's dip in the sea to the festivities - now why did no-one take me up on that suggestion last night?.. Granty? You up for some surf?

Thanks v muchly to Sandra and Bearcub for being such great company into the wee small hours. I like the way you picked up a couple of polis on the way home : )

Count me in!! I could be the rescue-kayak that kept an eye on you all. It'd be one up on the Looney Dookers of South Queensferry. A wee swim and a bowl of soup round a big bonfire.... I feel a Hogmanay 06 Planning Committee coming on.....

Poppy, it's a new year, and all your previous surveillance sins can be behind you if you wish. I know you've been itching to try out the night-vision goggles you got from Santa but maybe you should just put them on eBay?

Happy New Year everybody! Had a great time and I definitely think that outside Kitcheners is the place to be next year

. Think we need some music though since our very bad rendition of Auld Lang Syne ended a bit too quickly. Prom was good (if only we could have got rid of some mad woman who kept kissing my husband goodbye and asking him to make sure he serviced her regularly in the New Year - you know who you are......

) and thanks also to our wonderful hosts who couldn't get rid of us for love nor money until about 5.30am.......the power of POL right enough

Spot on with your poem Arachnid - I just love it, you clever girl you, it just says it all doesn't it

Mr Lizzie and I too are eating up every calorie laden morsel over the next few days, then its on to our healthy eating plan after the weekend!
We have our sons wedding in June of this year and we both plan to be about 2 stone lighter by then !

Afraid I can't really take the credit for writing the poem( I'm not that clever!!). It was one a friend of mine sent me last New Year, but, as you say," It says it all"!!

We've still got two big tins of sweets and a few tins of biscuits to get through as soon as possible so that we can eat normally again!!!

Think we'll have to join the "POL" diet and fitness club!!!!
