Re: BBC Action Network Introductory Sessions

We would like to invite you to one of three introductory sessions to BBC Action Network being held in Central Edinburgh next week. Action Network is currently partnering with BBC Radio Scotland's new community action programme, Action Scotland, to support those who are trying to make a difference and make their community a better place. More information about both and how to book a place can be found below.

What is Action Network?
Action Network is a BBC website that helps people get involved and make a difference in their local community. It's provided by the BBC, but most of the content on the site is written by our users. It's their space to get together with other people and groups and change the world around them for the better.

With Action Network you can:

Find individuals and groups who share your concerns
Find out how to contact your council and local politicians
Share your experience by posting a notice, writing an article or by commenting on what others have written
Add your group or organisation to the site
Work with other people to campaign for change

Plus, there is information and advice from the BBC on a range of topics: from campaigning tips such as how to write a press release, to information about how to access your medical records or get legal aid.

What is Action Scotland?
BBC Action Network is currently partnering with Action Scotland, a new series for BBC Radio Scotland which puts you in the driving seat. Each week Phil Goodlad joins a community campaigning to make a change for the better. He'll hear their stories, listen to their campaign then take their arguments and questions to the people with the power to take action and demand answers.

Introductory Sessions
Come along and find out more about Action Network and what it can offer your community/group/organisation. We will be running three outreach sessions on 17-18th January in Edinburgh. The sessions will be a chance to learn about BBC Action Network and chat to some of the team.

Venue: Learning Centre - Central Library, Bank Building, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, EH1 1EG
Dates and times: Tuesday January 17th, 2-4pm
Tuesday January 17th, 6-7.30pm
Wednesday January 18th, 2-4pm

Places on these workshops are on a first come, first served basis. To reserve a place, please reply by email, or give me a call on the number below. Anyone interested is very welcome to come along to one of these sessions. If you know anyone who you think might be interested, please do forward this email on to them and ask them to contact me directly to reserve a place.
