Wildlife on the beach
Did anyone else spot the seal frolicking in the stormy Porty surf yesterday afternoon? It looked so happy..
Seal spotting
As the resident kayaker, I see the seals quite a lot. There's quite often a solitary one in the water at the foot of Bath Street and further along behind the Rockville there are often 2 or 3. They're quite curious and as kayaks are quiet and environmentally friendly - unlike the jet skiis - they will happily follow me on my journey.
I like the idea of calling him/her 'the Bath Street Seal'! I've spotted it / them a good few times now, even when the beach is relatively busy. It's really nice to have them on your doorstep. I just think that because people aren't expecting to see them, they aren't looking and they're there a lot. There's a whole variety of birds out there as well. I watch those green/black s-h-a-g-s (!) hanging out on the wind sock poles every morning. They look like they've got a good life.
