Congratulations to Lorna Gow!

Porty's very own Lorna, fabulous bellydancer and brilliant teacher, is shortly leaving us to take up a six month contract to dance in Cairo! =D> :notworthy:

Here's an article from the EN last month: Belly Lorna

However, as anyone who's ever been interviewed by the EN etc will know, they like to employ journalistic license, so Lorna also wants to make clear that
1) my wiggle did not wow 'judges' since it was not a competition i went to - just a job interview (audition)

2) I'm not the 1st scottish 'import' to egypt- just to cairo

3) no series of guelling auditions- just the one....

4) never said I wanted to dance anywhere else in the middle east- don't have those aspirations at all...

5) never worked at DWP... worked at DSS also known now as benefits agency

6) haven't 'outgrown' scotland...... the thought!

7) not to any lengths to become a diva, just a good dancer - no aspirations to 'fit in' with other dancers- the opposite even- I want to stand out!!!!!

8) oh- and I did not dance at a turkish funeral- I danced to music more appropriate for a turkish funeral ( a long time ago!!!)
So now that I've done my errata corrections, I can get on with saying...congratulations, Lorna - wishing you all the best.
Happy shimmies.

Thanks for posting this BB. I spotted it at the time and had good intentions but I had a million other things to do that day.

Lorna certainly 'wowed' me and I imagine most other people who have ever watched her dance.

Bon voyage Lorna and send us some piccies!

If Lorna would like to contact 'The Portobello Reporter' when she returns from Egypt, we would be delighted to report on her experiences. We may be able to include only short articles in the paper, due to space available, but unlike some others, we always aim for accuracy! Meanwhile - Best wishes, Lorna!
