She's five. Her elder brother, Daniel, learned to cycle in Brighton Park as well and on the same bike. Same story in fact - they both had stablisers, one of them broke and I couldn't be bothered fixing it. What you didn't see in the film was the hour or so I spent beforehand running round and round the park with her. Lots of me shouting, her crying, but we got there in the end.

Well done Emily! It's a milestone - like learning to swim, tying shoelaces and telling the time

. I must confess to not teaching my children any of those things - I have no patience if they don't get it right first time so Mr E took over and was solely responsible for the skint knees, near drownings, velcro and the fact they still don't know what 'a reasonable time' means

When I was at Towrebank we used to have our sports days on the beach

I remember my dad teaching me, he'd let go and i was fine until I realised he wasnt holding on

...always a milestone for a child...and so good to have captured the moment on film for her Bob, even if you were stuck behind the camera. My kids absolutely adore watching old footage of themselves as wee ones and it is lovely to relive those moments and remember just how sweet they were, I mean are
