Oh, how excited am I?!? Just got a note through door to say that they will be filming a scene for Rebus on the corner of Bath Street and Prom on the 11th May. Not sure I will be able to contain myself if the lovely Ken Stott makes an appearance

They filmed a scene down on the road that runs parallel to the prom when it was John Hannah that was Rebus. 2 of the guys from my work were going down that way in a van and they filmed an officer talking to them but I think that was cut from the aired version.

My niece may well be a "runner" for the production company that day....will find out more!

I heard a great story about John Hannah's "method" of acting when he was the Reeb.

He had been oot on the ran dan the night before - or some such, hadn't learned his lines or anything, just turned up to the shoot where they were filming a scene in a toilet.

Hannah turns up, leans over the person he is acting next to, pins up his lines behind their shoulder and does the job in hand.

Pro.

Respect.

p.s. rumour has it that even he thinks The Mummy films are a load of <insert word here>

Good news, Gizmo! Ken will definitely be there...and he has actually had his nicotine stained fingers on a book of mine that I have lent to my niece ("Edinbuggers v Weegies").

the leaflet says approximately 10am - 7pm. But I guess it will just be a slot in that time, not the full 9 hours!

Here is some info that was on the leaflet:
the new episode will be based on "The Black Book". On the 11th May they are going to shoot a sequence for the film at the corner of Bath st and the Esplanade involving the Utopia bar. They will be boarding up part of the building to change the appearance to match the interior shots, which will be filmed in Glasgow (!).

The leaflet also says that we can't park on part of Bath st and Straiton place that day.

All very exciting. will hopefully be able to pop along and see them film!

Ken Stott et al are filming at the moment on Bath Street. Very long process, but enjoyable to watch. Look forward to seeing it on TV!

No, was with my niece (production runner) who was giving him a flask of tea/coffee/??!!. I had bright multi-coloured basket hanging on my shoulder.

Anyway, I was introduced as "my Aunty Karin"

For something to say, I mentioned it was me what had loaned the niece the book he'd had a look at (Edinbuggers vs Weejies), so we spoke briefly about female neds and the mystery Farmfoods bag they all have hingin' off the handle of the mandatory buggy!! He was about to be called on set so I went on my way with a cheery "Break a leg"!!

Seems nice... if a bit wee!!

Bit inappropriate of them to film while there was a serious incident taking place - that looks like a forensics guy as well as an ambulance and a police car.

ha ha, theres been another murder. Oh, wrong Scottish detective programe.

Was fun to watch, but I can see why actors claim that it is not a glamorous. There seemed to be alot of hanging about, and each scene was filmed a good few times. Reckon it might get a bit dull after a while. Still, better than a real job I guess!!!!

Other half came to meet me on the prom today and got held up, thinking there'd been a serious accident. Was most relieved when I said it was Rebus being filmed.

BTW, Granty, was that you kayaking this afternoon, and if so, think you'll be in the background on the telly?

Nice pics, Gizmo.

I'm hoping the Rebus dramas to come are an improvement on the ones screened this far.

I imagined Mr. Stott would make a fine Rebus (Bill Paterson would be my dream choice) but, sadly, probably due to trying to squish the books into hour and half slots there is little time to get the feel of the character.
The scripts seem to be a mish mash of the books and left me quite confused.

Did anyone else watch/enjoy Vice when it was on? Stott was fantastic in that and the character he portrayed was certainly a Rebus type of bloke. Like most series it ran too long and the quality fell away towards the end but the first couple of runs were excellent.

Oh well, Ken is still far better in the role of Rebus than John Hannah ever was.

Plug said he was waiting for the 26 at RoS and the polis vehicles passed with stickers on the windows to announce they were TV-only cars!!

Went down myself for a wee nosey and saw Ken Stott in action (having a smoke actually) but even better got a beautiful smile and wave from Robert Cavanagh as I had to stop while he manouvered his car up a congested Bath St.

I too used to enjoy the Vice but agree that it lost it a bit towards the end.I also liked Ken Stott in the Messiah dramas but they were a bit gruesome.

Talking of other programmes Ken Stott has been in, does anyone else remember a programme set in a small Highlands costal community? Seem to remember that quite a bit of the action was set around a fish processing factory. It was a bit like Clocking Off (but came before it) and followed different people's stories each week. For once, Ken Stott played a nasty character, a very puritan man who arrived to manage the fish factory. Quite a few years ago now and I would love to find out what it was called. I think it came out before Taking over the Asylum.
