PC problem....can anyone help ?

I am not very good with IT in general ! I have a small problem and wonder if anyone can help!!

I have a data information system on my laptop and want to copy it onto a memory stick to give it to someone else. I know how to copy files ie word or excel documents. Can anyone tell me how to copy a programme ??

Do you mean that it is a filename ending in ".exe"?

If so just select it, right click and choose "Copy" from the menu.

Then navigate to your memory stick in My Computer, double click on the memory stick, right click and "Paste".

That should do it.

Or you could plug in your usb memory stick, double click my computer and find the removable disk. Double click and open a new window for the removable disk. Resize the wind to about half the screen size. Now open my computer, find the folder for program you want to copy and just drag it into the other open window of the removable disk. Hope the memory stick is big enough to take the program.

I'm not an expert - but i don't think its as easy as moving the .exe file... this won't work due to missing .dll & registry files? Shortcuts etc. would also be missing. Really need to move the installation file and then install on the other pc.

yeah - on re-reading this I think you might be right - follow my previous instructions but copy the original installation file not the program as it is installed on your machine.
