Help... Evil Dentist??

Post by Mycroft » 23 Jun 2006, 09:22

Hi!

I'm after some advice, as I'm looking for a good dentist at the mo...

Does anybody go to the Brighton Place practice? Can you recommend a dentist there?

Thanks!
:D

A warm welcome to you Mycroft.
You're not the first to ask on here about a dentist. My own dentist is on Easter Road so that's not much good to you. I know that Epykat has previously posted that she is with the dentists on Brighton Place so hopefully she'll reply to your post next time she's on-line.

I trust that you want a local dentist who is still taking on NHS patients?

If that's the case then it's a case of take-it-or-leave-it... When I inquired 6 months ago the dentists at Brighton Pl were still taking on NHS patients but there was a couple of months wait...

I phone round 11 or 12 local dentists. Ended up going private with one of the dentists on Fisherrow High St.

Fraser Hendrie at Craigentinny Dental Practice is very good. I had a terrible fear for two years after a bad dental experience and he sorted me out. Private though.

He's my husband's dentist too Mrs Mc and he's very happy with the treatment he receives.

We're at Brighton Place by default - we tried to join them when we mvoed here but were told th waiting list was long, so went to Anne Saxby on the High St. After she left and went to Brighton, we phoned them and said we wanted to see her and we got registered (NHS) no problem at all earlier this year. Much more pleasant place to go to than the old one.

Thanks very much for all the info so far... and thanks for the warm welcome Marya!
The story is... I've had a NHS dentist in the city centre for a number of years, but he's had to take early retirement. Ideally I'd like to continue with a NHS dentist, but I'm obviously keen on getting a recommendation first!
I 'phoned the NHS Lothian dental help line to get a list of dentists who are still taking on NHS patients - Brighton Place Practice happened to be one of those listed.
Unless anyone comes back with any horror stories, I might just go ahead and register with them! (I had a check-up earlier this year, so I don't mind if there's a bit of a waiting list.)
Cheers for now,
Mycroft

Experience with Brighon Place very poor, A Saxby very rude and S Armitage okay for scale and polish or filling but very limited dental work. Have had appointments cancelled on several occasions and they don't work every day.

I don't go to brighton place but have heard good recommendations for Anne Saxby who doesn't work every day as she has a young daughter.

I got to a dentist in Slateford Road (private :( ) cos I've been going there for years and he understands my dentist phobia
