Heather and Jim - Great Wall of China appeal

You may know us from around Portobello; working in the Library, cycling to School or sitting outside the Deli!

As some people may know, Heather’s health situation has not been entirely stable lately, and that's partly why we need your help. Although we remain optimistic, Heather’s breast cancer has returned and a new round of treatment options approach. The treatment she have been getting - herceptin - which has held the cancer at bay for the last FOUR YEARS (hooray!) has, unfortunately, damaged her heart. She wouldn’t be here without it, and will miss the herceptin greatly. Heather is currently getting used to a variety of heart pills to alleviate some of the symptoms from the heart damage. Shortly she will be starting on a new kind of chemotherapy to try and stop the cancer from spreading any further.

We have decided to take part in a big challenge to keep us focused on something positive and are planning to raise money for MAGGIE'S www.maggiescentres.org who provide a wide range of services helping people who have been diagnosed with cancer, and their families. We hope to hike a remote part of the Great Wall of China with a group of fellow fundraisers for 9 days in September. To be included on the trip, we BOTH need to raise £3000! We are hoping to have a variety of fundraising events over the coming months, but firstly we are throwing ourselves upon the mercy of anybody who knows us in the hope that right at the beginning, we can get started with a few donations.

We've each got an easy to use web page: http://www.justgiving.com/heathermay OR http://www.justgiving.com/jimmorrison where you can get the cash rolling, or you can of course use a more traditional method (send/give us money direct – 3F1,69 Promenade, Edinburgh, EH15 2DX) or you can even.....host a fundraising event yourself in our names and give us all the money you make! The possibilities are endless! Even £1 towards the cause is gratefully received.

It just remains for us to say THANK YOU for any help you can give us.

Much love from Heather & Jim Morrison

Hi Heather and Jim. What a great thing you are doing for Maggie's centre. Maggie's is a wonderful sanctuary for people with cancer and their families. My dad sadly passed away on 10th June. He had myeloma, went into remission only to find unrelated secondaries in his liver and a tumour in his stomach. When he was in WGH my mum and I visited Maggie's on a very difficult day. The staff there were great, very welcoming and took time to sit and talk with us. They gave us loads of info too. My dad was then transfered to St Columbas Hospice - fabulous place.

We would be more than happen to sponsor. Good luck on the trek - I believe it's a hard one to do.
