Not being a resident ... this is a straight question. Uhh ... I'm not auditioning you Gilo ... nor anyone else ... so ... no point anyone going into a song and dance for me ... I'm asking for a freind!

Not me ... like I said ... it's for a freind. If no-one answers positively, then I guess it's something Portie doesn't have.

Which would be strange cos Portie's always had a strong community spirit and with a Town Hall where shows are staged ... you'd kinda expect one.

Yeah I looked (in the list ... NOT Uranus!) and there doesn't appear to be one. Ah we ll ... Have to say I'm a little surprised though.

Checked up the name and Uranus XIV has not posted since Dec 18 '05. Hope she's okay, having skimmed through her posts.

If she's still out there, get in touch with me Uranus XIV ... I think I can put you together with a few theatrical ppl ... if you haven't already got there by yourself!

And it would appear the short answer is NO ... Portie does not have a theatre company, amateur, community or otherwise in the locality.

Why? I don't believe for one second you're all philistines ... well, there's an odd one or two I'm sure ... but with a community as big as Portie ... you should at least have a Youth Theatre on the go. Other, smaller, less affluent areas (Pilton, Wester Hailes, Craigmillar) all have strong theatre roots ... why not Portie??

Anyone got any answers??? (yes ... smart-alecky ones too! *sighs*)

You said it - because we're apparently "more affluent" we don't get funding thrown at us left right and centre for anything

I thought there was an amateur dramatics group along at St. Philips? Not 100% sure but you could check it out.
