It's a sad reminder.

I came home from work today to find a fire engine at the bottom of the street. The next thing I noticed was that one of the windows in the house nearby was broken and blackened. It suddenly dawned on me that our friend's house had been on fire :(

Thankfully nobody was injured in the fire but it seems that something that was plugged into an extension socket short circuited and caused the fire. Although our friend was at home and tried to extinquish the fire she was unable to do so and had to call the fire brigade. They are now staying with us overnight until they can sort out the mess.

They're now living in a hotel for the next week while things are sorted out. The downstairs is fine but upstairs is a real mess especially where the fire started. Nevertheless, there's a great deal of work needs to be done to restore the three bedrooms, bathroom and landing back to normal.

A bit of a pain and emotional trauma but we really have to be pleased that no-one was badly hurt or injured. 8)

I burned my mother's kitchen when I was 11  so I understand how they feel. Best of luck to them with regenerating the house ... but as PoP says ... you have to happy no-one was seriously hurt.
