Charity Car Boot Sales

Due to popular demand, the Rotary Club of Portobello are now holding these on the last Sunday of every month throughout this summer until further notice.

Entry fees are Â£8 per car and Â£10 per small van. Strictly <u>NO</u> traders. Proceeds go to various Edinburgh Children's Charities.

The car boot sales are held at the far end car park of the Woolworths 'BIG W' store at Newcraighall, Portobello starting at 8am finishing at 2pm.

Although extremely popular, pre-booking is not required as we don't yet have enough numbers. We do however suggest that you check our website at http://www.portobellorotary.com/noticeboard.asp in case we happen to be busier than normal. Arrive early to secure a good space!

Sellers are reminded that the car park must be vacated by 2pm on the day. Please ensure that you take all your belongings and any litter home with you afterwards.

There is normally a catering van available on site providing teas, coffees and snacks.

Umm ... excuse me ... being still very much new here but getting into the spirit with humour I hope ... but since when was Newcraighall a part of Portobello??? I've seen it claimed as part of Musselburgh, but historically it's always been part of the Craigmillar/Niddrie conurbation. Or has this changed recently???

Pedant. Not only is "Big W" part of the overall sprawl that can be referred to as Newcraighall (a useful memory jog for drivers who will be approaching the boot sale via or through Fort Kinnaird shopping centre) which encompasses B&Q, Wickes, both sides of the Fort, the UCI (which isn't called that any more but - people know what you mean when you say it and hence your information is useful)) but you can get to it on foot from Portobello quite easily.

This is a fantastic boot - easy to get to, a good variety and you can always go and get a scalding coffee from Burger King and a small packet of onion rings before getting your boot booty home.

So nyeh.

If the Fort/UCI was one slice of the sandwich, and porty beach the other, the Big W car park would be the tasy and fresh filling.

Newcraighall is obviously the nexus point of converging parallel universes ... which means ... yes ... it is part of Porty, Musselburgh AND Craigmillar all at the same time!

This is true, because I know of a person who, while staggering home from parties in Newcraighall, has always found themself in one of those locations as the dawn came up each time.
