So, are we going to the ball after all? Workshops, brainstorming sessions, conferences, summits, design gurus - never mind my silver boots, fetch me my golden slippers!

Or will it turn out to be just another night in collectively washing our hair?

what about us?

Do you think amongst the glitterati designing our seashore that they might ask the residents what we think? a bit radical perhaps - don't suppose the developers would like that too much.....we only live here, and 'sustain' the economy with our hard earned cash, community participation and care for the environment etc - unlike the developers who kindly speculate to accumulate with our coastline, land and houses, and then disappear with their/our £££££s made from sale of whose land? - our land! Epykat - don't be silly. The people who will live in these quarter of a million quid luxury seafront apartments will be far too posh to hang their washing out!

Carla - why wait to be invited? We are still waiting for your
imaginative suggestions for the Prom
at http://www.porty.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopi ... sc&start=0

Seriously, from reading my PAS minutes I know that John Stewart has expressed disappointment that his idea of a community plan for the seafront hasn't been more productive. I agree - it's our land, but what do we want to do with it?

Much as I do like the Forum Bob, I don't think developers and rich folk with all the dosh to build this wonderful new coastline, will be reading this forum (for our ideas and suggestions) except to find out tactics that we are using to fight them (see superstore thread)!

I'm a great believer in community action, but we don't have the money to build any good new council housing or affordable flats or houses to buy - because we need to tax the rich to pay for this (horror of horrors to TBliar), and we've sold off many of the good condition council houses, and if the Council has its way we're about to give the rest away to a not for profit HA (but they can borrow from the private sector - get it?! privatisation always gets in there somewhere under new labour/tories ) etc
