Vietnam Flashback Movie Quiz

There are no questions in this quiz, only ... criteria.

Your mission is to name films (or tv programmes) in which the main character(s) ha(s)(ve) one or more flashbacks to 'Nam. The film must be set after (not during) the war, and each confirmed instance is worth one point.

If the character(s) who ha(s)(ve) the episode is in charge of a military vehicle at the time of the flashback and just manage(s) to regain control in time to not crash/kill the bad guy(s)/do something crucial to the plot - you get a bonus point.

Mere mention of flashbacks or other trauma related to being in Vietnam is not sufficient - the flashbacks must have a visual (filmed) component.

And Alf had flashbacks to Nam in 'Home and Away'! (I used to watch all the Aussie soaps and dream of warm beaches

) but only when he had a brain tumour I think..

Hmm. Do the flashbacks turn out to be real though in that film? Or are there also memories of the traumatic incidents?

I was going to disallow Jacob's Ladder, but seeing as I'm allowing a point for Alf whose flashbacks may have been hallucinations, for the sake of consistency you can also have a point for JL.

I thought you meant flashbacks as seen in the characters mind anyway, as opposed to flashbacks in the scripts..

Just remembered Van damme's Universal Soldier has Vietnam flashbacks in it.

Can't stop thinking of what other movies there are!!!!

I'm not sure if I'd class them as flashbacks - it's more like the film has moved back in time. But you can have the points.

I thought it kept flashing back to a bit that pre-dated the film but within the same war. Am I mistaken? Did they not keep showing the same scene repetitively?

No. If you can think of which film it was, you're probably due some points.

Hamburger Hill - I'm sure they are looking back at what has happened in between it happening? Tom Cruise definately has flashbacks in Born on the Fourth of July. Was it the fourth? Something of July.

BM - 2 points, but I'm not sure about Taxi Driver - I know he's a vet but haven't seen it.

Rapunzell - 1 point for CSI. I would say Hamburger & BOTFOJ are yer actual Vietnam movies.
