Any odd jobs?

Hello to all! I'm new here, but everyone has been so friendly on the forum, that I thought I would ask - does anyone in Porty need any odd jobs done over the next couple of week?

I am actually a primary teacher, by fearghal and I have recently returned from doing voluntary work in Namibia, and the teaching market in Edinburgh is a bit slow at the mo. So with applications not closing till Friday, I am definately going to be "between jobs" (as I like to call it) for the next couple of weeks, and getting more bored by the day.

So if you have something needing done (I'm good with kids, animals, diy, cleaning, decorating and waitressing) now's your chance to employ a willing pair of hands for a few hours/days!

Excelent idea and I wish you well in the quest. I don't have anything that needs doing at the moment.

Do me a favour tho' , whilst you are not in a job please don't build up a massive post count. You will probably get a visit from the Community Councils' thought police. :lol: :lol: And it will be even worse if you don't have any children.

Just wait until the various winter bugs start to bite Aileen. You'll very soon find yourself in demand for supply.

Namibia sounds very exotic to me. I'm ashamed to say that all I know about it is the coverage given to the country when the Jolie Pitts decided to hide out there. :oops:

When we went to Namibia, no one had heard of it, now everyone knows it as the place Ange had her baby! Crazy.

I'm sure there is a demand for supply teachers, but as it takes about 4 months for the council to get organised to interview you for the supply lists, it isn't coming my way. Meanwhile I've spoken to heads who can't get cover for sick teachers!

4 months!! Good grief! Is that because you need to go through the disclosure process? I've heard that can take a while :?

The very best of sporting luck not only with your application/paperwork to get you back onstream with the teaching, but also in the meantime with odd jobs.

Have you thought about going to a temp agency (not teaching - catering or office work) as they pay by the week and you could get signed up quickly. Reed, Adecco, Kellys, Quality Link that sort of thing.

Also, feel free to post us pics or stories from Namibia!

The Windhoek beer isn't bad either. Drank a load of it in Cape Town.
