I'm refering to the kinetic artwork outside the Bank of Scotland in the High Street, the Converse trainers on the lampost. Many months they've been there sticking a tongue out at convention, showing the futility of fashion as they faded in the sun, symbolysing the uncertainty of life as we wondered if they'd rot and fall. Even the brand was a statement- Converse- look at us hanging here instead of being worn on someones feet. True non art being art. Taken down for Xmas lights- so ironic.
Or did some neds just bung 'em up there?
Alas! they've gone
