Usually get these wrong when written on paper, so no surprise if wrong again...

You're spot on, Bearcub.

Got it from the "Why don't penguins feet freeze?" book
Most people when they see it written down say 3 Fs missing out the "of"s
I tried it at home and most said 3 including my dyslexic son who always reads quite carefully.
Perhaps it need to be written on a book page to fool people or you're just more observant . You're not a proof reader are you?

Nope, but I've probably been fooled by it so many times when reading on paper that I've got the hang of them now! Pretty sure I'd read somewhere before that your brain semi-automatically skips over the small words like 'if', 'of' and 'it', as you recognise them very easily (supposedly!) without having to see which letters are in the word.

Yes it seems the brain can "filter " some words. My dyslexic son had trouble to begin with but now that he's learnt the structure of some words he can recognise that rather than the individual letters. His learnig support teacher once told me that he could read a word just as quickly upside down once he "knew" it.
Can still be interesting reading some of his texts or written notes now he's older

Even when I read on I still only got three first time rereading it.

She told me she's been spladooshed!

Think she was so surprised she didn't know what to say.
It's her "work experience" that she's doing there and seems to be enjoying it.

I only got 3 Fs the first time I read it and even after reading that it should be 6 still couldn't see it!
