Car flu sympathy thread

This thread is for anyone who has had to go through an illness in their car.

Coincidentally, my wee car has had to go to the Emergency Car Hospital because it doesn't work.

Any and all sympathy therefore would be appreciated as I'm going through a range of emotions at the moment - love and memories of happier times in my car, and anger that it got sick and, depending on the medical bills, might have to get put down.

I might end up having to get a shinier and newer one which I presume would take some of the sting out of this mornings experience, when I broke down in Halford's car park. Should I say it broke down, all I did was pout.

I pouted more when the man spoke about how much "alternators" cost.

Mrs Dadaist, on rescue detail, said I looked like "little boy lost" as I walked - car-less - across the car park clutching the contents of my (maybe) ex-car.

It might just be the fan belt though.

Ours gets it M.O.T tomorrow and decided today would be the day to get a flat tyre!!!

BM you are in my thoughts at this difficult time - even a checkup can be stressful.

All my car needed was a battery and a fan belt. I had feared the worst.

It's looking forward to coming home after a night in the car hospital. It says it's keen to go out for a run and get back to work.

Having only discovered them cos I broke down in their car park, I have to recommend Nationwide at Seafield (next to Halfords) - they were spot on and quite obviously used to dealing with worried relatives.

Hope all goes well with your car Dadaist. It doesn't sound too bad though.
Have you got a seat for the youngest member of the family installed yet?
Ours just failed it's MOT today.
Tyre, wipers and dull (not as in boring) brake light. (not a bad result though)

It's got a seat for neo-Dada #1 but new baby's seat (and Emily's main seat) are in Beach Babe's car.

Mr. BM just got back in and the car ihas now passed it's MOT (Â£50) and the parts (Â£53). Not too bad really.

When I thought my car was going to the knackers, Beach Babe showed me the private sales bit on Gumtree which has some real steals. Lucky dip likes.

Looks pretty good. (Not that I know much about cars). I'll bookmark it for Mr. BM to have a look in the event that we need to get a new car (I hope that wont be for a long time).

So pleased to hear that all the little ( or big) cars are feeling much better now and hopefully won't need any car doctors or nurses again for a long time!!!

You must all be so relieved that your not going to lose a good friend!!!

spiderling son has been giving it a wee run out now and again, so isn't too lonely!!

Another week or two and it'll have Mr. Arachnid sitting in the driver's seat again!!! Lucky car!!!

Glad your car back on the road Dadaist and that yours passed the test BM.

I've always thought being a member of a breakdown service a great idea. It is a gamble as some years its not used but then we've had years when I was brought back from the north of Scotland , with young child,( broken car on back of lorry) or when Mr Soupy had a skid and landed in a field. The RAC towed him out, dusted him down and brought him and the car home, bits of grass and bush stuck in radiator grill! ( car was write off )

Also found that new MOT cetificate means car tax can be applied for onine. No more queues at post office

I was there today. Scotmid looks so sad when looking out from the Post Office queue. I actually had not a bad PO experience today in and out in less than 3 minutes after assuming third place in the queue.

When I went in to Scotmid there was no queue at all at the Post Office.....I was a bit miffed that I didn't need anything

Should have just queued anyway then, too good an opportunity to miss. When they asked if they could help you, just reply "nope, just browsing"
