TOWNIES PICK UP YOUR LITTER
which was, well, to the point.
I came across something similar in an old Hopetoun House Nature Trail booklet (staples rusted, phone numbers still 031) which at first looked like your standard "please pick up your litter" but, on reading, seethes exasperation :
WHEN IN THE COUNTRYSIDE, PLEASE REMEMBER
LITTER IS UNSIGHTLY.
GLASS CUTS CHILDREN.
FARM AND WILD ANIMALS ARE FRIGHTENED OF YOUR GENTLE, PLAYFUL PET.
FIRES DESTROY YOUR AMENITIES AS WELL AS CROPS AND TIMBER.
OPEN GATES ALLOW STOCK TO STRAY.
DAMAGED FENCES KEEP NOTHING IN OR OUT.
SOMEONE MAY BE COMING TO SEE THE WILD FLOWERS TOMORROW.
That is hardcore. I wonder if the person from the Scottish Wildlife Trust who put this at the start of a nature trail booklet also freelanced for rave flyers.
