More probable that I just imagined the stuff was gone, Soupy.SoupDragon wrote:Traffic lights there at 8.30 when I came past.
The pavement outside the High school is dug up and the lights are by fenced off area opposite the jannies houses on Duddingston Road just up form St Johns school.
If its not there at 7 but there at 8.30 it must be elves, hence lack of workmen!
I hadn't had coffee #1 at that point and was playing speed bump slalom whilst listening to Moyles, so my observation skills - not razor sharp at the best of times - would have been even worse. And it was dark.
Are you wanting your thread put in "matters" or G&TT?
Have you thought about phoning the cooncil and asking?

Would the coonsul know about roadworks? If they're behind all the congestion would they let on? I once spent a morning being transferred from dept to dept when I phoned to ask why there was a forrest of poles in Straiton Place without any notices on them. ( Some now have parking notices but there the odd one or two still bare)
There is another thread topic in there. Along the lines of Creme egg how do you eat yours. How do you cope with speed bumps.
Some slalom, some bump over, some slow down to 0 mph, some try and avoid the area
Straight down the middle. You can't go round them I don't think - but they are much gentler on the bottom if you attack head-on - the small ones at least. There are some brutal ones about.
I enquired once about what was going on on Montgomery St and they got back to me - although I think I used email.

I was drawing an analogy.I would, if I understood what you were talking about. You what?
Like some of the quality press, the forum is relaunching itself in a smaller, more compact form ( without the leadership of our glorious founder and the accompanying mother site of POL) . We wanted to keep the same high standards of G&TT, but judging by the quality of recent new threads and polls we are going decidedly more tabloid and less broadsheet in content, a bit like 'the Hootsman' which I believe is now enticing readers with results of sex surveys .
Mind you, all we're offering are cups of tea and coffee so we've still got a wee bit to go.

When we made the recent announcement about the forum and POL separating, Bellybabe was very keen to title it ' The lunatics have taken over the asylum'. We should have run with it!
