What a pleasant afternoon

Post by SoupDragon » 09 Feb 2007, 20:01

It's been cold outside so I've spent this afternoon cuddling a warm computer trolling through the old POL threads looking for the orphans.

Bobs lentil soup thread brought back memories of my dad boiling a hough, usually on a Saturday morning, the rich aroma filling the house.

The pubs poll was interesting in that the worst ones seem to have closed. Mind coming past one of the karaoke pubs one night, the shouts and smashing chairs amplified by the mike, and a male voice shouting "Shut the f**k up! Ahm tryin tae sing"
The Figgate stabbing was featured on a tv prog about the real, Scottish CSIs

Johnny Cunningham thread brought back the days listening to Silly Wizard and the like in the Yellow Carvel

Saw Michael Kinane mentioned. Pleased to say I've got a picture of his on our wall that he gave us as a wedding present. He was at school with Mr Soupy and our best man all those years ago.

There was a thread about improving information about thefts/vandalism had a point. Perhaps if we knew there had been a spate of burglaries a few years ago we'd have been more vigilant and not been burgled ourselves. Though I think the team responsible for the thefts didn't really care about lights on/ tv on/people in the house. I do wish the police had let us know they were caught and what happened. I know they were caught as I had to identify an old mobile phone but never heard about the court case or if they got a jail term.
