Traffic Calming

Post by Porty » 27 Apr 2007, 16:05

I just had a "road rage" experience in East Brighton Crescent, although there wasn't much raging until the end. I'd been on a hospital visit and was using the street as a rat run, due to the back up in Brighton Place. I was going very, very slowly, as I know there is a bend and at least 2 blind spots. Anyway, Mr I have a pathetoc private reg, came racing round the bend and had to come to an emergency stop.

He had to reverse, as I had a car behind me that had come to a gentle stop. He started waving his arms around and gesticulating but not the V signs or anything so vulgar.

I wound my window down and said politely: "I don't know why you are waving your arms at me?"

He said, equally politely: "coz you came round there at some speed"

I responded: "No, I was very careful"

He said: " well it couldn't have been me as I have a kid in the car" He then pointed to little kid who was sitting in the FRONT with a seat belt on.

I said: "well to be honest she should really be in the back". He looked a bit sheepish.

"its not really a good example to use when attempting to prove careful motoring to another motorist" I opined.

"F***** " he said and started to pull away.

"Now, now you have a kid in the car" I helpfully informed him, as he appeared to have forgotten all about her.

Good story Porty.

In my street the kerbs are so low that folk just drive up onto the pavement and go round the speed bumps. Makes for interesting zig zagging at speed on the pavement. I am just glad there isn't one right outside my gate!

I have tried calling the Police but they do SFA.
