Post by Bob Jefferson » 28 Apr 2007, 13:41

Reds is now open all day Tues to Sunday and they have a new chef who previously worked at the Tower. They are also offering a takeaway service.

Derek hasn't got round to updating the website yet, so in the meantime here are the new menus:

Reds Bistro Menu

Reds Bistro Menu 2

Children's Bistro Menu

Reds Takeaway Menu

There is a separate evening menu which changes weekly but I don't have a sample copy and I'm not sure if you have the choice of either menu.

In any case, I'm sure we will all be interested to read your review following the recent changes. Make the most of the BYOB as I hear they are applying for a licence to serve alcohol. The BYOB option will still be available but I imagine there will be a corkage charge.

Reds now have another new menu for the restaurant. They'd had one lately that had about 1/2 dozen choices for starters and mains that looked good...but that seems to have stopped now.

Might take me some convincing to try the new one - there's about 50  choices of main course. I tend to start wondering about which are frozen and ready-made when there's that much to choose from....

I'm with you on that BC, they can't keep all of that stuff fresh in their fridge on the off chance that someone will order.

We went to Reds with my friends and their son on Sunday. Just for a coffee/drink and the service and standards were dreadful. Disinterested young staff who didn't care and drinks just plonked down on the edge of the table. I had to laugh... my friend wanted a milkshake, the waitress was very put out...."I'll have to make it....it may be some time..."

I for one won't be back.

There is one girl who is really grumpy. My sis and I went with four kids between us and the girl was completely flumoxed by it all. You know what its like, someone orders something, it arrives and another child says wish I'd got one of them and you end up ordering another - it was only a scone and another juice but you'd think we'd asked her to hand over her life savings. Shame because the idea is great but they need to sort out the customer care.

I know the girl you mean! Mrs IV and I (and Baby IV!) sometimes go on a Sunday morning for brekkie and we always get a laugh at how rubbish that particular girls service is!

She is totally grumpy and if you ask her a question about something on the menu you get a muffled "What?" right back at you!
