BNI Fisherraw (Grow your business)

Post by Ed » 20 Jun 2007, 14:04

Hello

I have recently joined a Business referral organisation which meets in the Rockville on Wednesday morning. We have just started and are looking for new members from all types of business.

So far we have: web developer, will writer, chartered accountant, printer, photographer, bank advisor, limo hire and would love some more. The old adage, the more the merrier

Here is a copy of the letter that we use to send out to prospective members. If you want some more info, please get in touch or come along to our meeting!

You are cordially invited to the breakfast meeting of the proposed Fisherraw chapter of Business Network International at The Rockville Hotel, 2 Joppa Pans, Edinburgh, EH15 2HF. Our meeting is on this Wednesday the 27th of June from 7.00am - 9.00am, where BNI’s Assistant Director, Colin D. Read, will share BNI’s secrets to success through "word-of-mouth" marketing.

BNI is a business and professional networking organisation whose primary purpose is to exchange qualified business referrals. It is the most successful organisation of its type in the world today, with over 4,700 chapters in operation in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, across the EC, Israel, Malaysia, Singapore, North America, India, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan.

Last year, members of BNI passed more than 4.9 million referrals, which in turn generated more than £1.1 billion worth of business for its members.

What makes BNI unique is that it allows only one person per profession to join a chapter. Thus, once you have joined, there is no conflict in passing referrals, and none of your competitors can participate!

I would like to invite you to our breakfast meeting so you can learn more about the organisation, and find out if you would be interested in generating a steady source of referral business for yourself.

Seating may be limited, so please RSVP by calling me on 669 8800. There is a nominal £6.00 meeting fee, which does include a full sit down Scottish breakfast.

If you have any questions, please contact me. Remember to bring plenty of business cards to pass around, as you will meet many local business people.

P.S. Please feel free to bring any business associate(s) with you who may also be interested in finding out how to generate more business through word of mouth referrals - this is a unique and really exciting opportunity for any individual or organisation to increase their business!

I've trawled through this post twice now and can't see any sexual innuendo anywhere.

Carry on.

So - this is like the Freemasons but without the secrecy?

Not at all. Its essentially a Business Breakfast meeting where individuals work together to help each other out. I was sceptical at first but I really enjoy it and for those of us that dont often get out and about in our line of work, its great to chat to others.

Would you go if it was £25 rather than £6?

Guardian says

"BNI, or Business Network International, was founded 20 years ago in the US by Ivan Misner, a management consultant, who also happens to be an amateur magician and a blackbelt in karate. Misner worked with firms that needed help in strategic planning and organisational development."

What a dude!!! If at first he can't simply make a firms troubles disappear he just chops costs out of the business.

If it was value for money. £6 is about right I think.

Those wisecracks sound like they are worth it on their own.

Fair enough. Are you aware if any of the business people who attend the meetings have conducted a value for money analysis?

I got an email about the "Power lunch" recently. Seems like there are quite a lot of business groups around (don't know why I got it though :? )
