Fringe shows
Hi, what is everyone going to see during the Fringe? Anyone booked yet to see a show, or something at the Film or Book festivals?

Hi froglette and welcome to the board. So far I have tickets for Supersize Me at the Film Festival, several children's shows at the Fringe for our 3 year old and various author events at the Book Festival for our 11 year old. Disappointed that Hull Truck aren't at the Fringe - I'm a big John Godber fan.
Mr DG and I plan to have a festival day out on Friday. We are going to see One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest in the afternoon then, after a wander about town, Van Morrison at night. We've both taken the day off for it and looking forward to be tourists for the day... however, recently heard Christian Slater has developed Chicken Pox! - Has anyone else heard about this or is it just a bubble-bursting rumour?

From the EN yesterday, i think:
A pox on star Slater threatens to halt Cuckoo debut
HOLLYWOOD star Christian Slater may miss his Edinburgh Fringe debut due to chicken pox.
He is due to open in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at the Assembly Rooms on August 6.
But he was taken ill on Thursday and doctors confirmed today that he has caught chicken pox from fellow cast member Felix Dexter.
The producers remain hopeful that Slater, 34, the star of True Romance, will have recovered enough to appear on the first night.
He is cast in the lead role played by Jack Nicholson in the 1975 film, alongside Office star Mackenzie Crook.
The production has been beset by problems - director Guy Masterson quit, blaming stress and family illnesses.

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Hmm, it's one of these unclassifiable sorta sounds! Some of it is very popish - but then you've got songs that never end too. The most recent album is probably his weakest on the first listen, but grows. The first two were instant winners, let me know if you want to borrow them.Porty wrote:Wangi. I had never heard of the MHS until yesterday when I was in FOPP liked the name so I bought the CD. Not had a channce to listen to it yet. It was pigeonholed as Pop/Rock would that be accurate?wangi wrote:For sure Mull Historical Society and The Hives, and probably The Zutons...

Very kind of you but I dont do borrowing as I am too careless and forgetful. I will listen to the one I bought and take it from there. Thanks for the offer tho.Porty wrote: Hmm, it's one of these unclassifiable sorta sounds! Some of it is very popish - but then you've got songs that never end too.
