Bye bye (we're off to Leith)

Post by aileenandfearghal » 13 Aug 2007, 22:44

We just wanted to say a wee goodbye to porty - we're off to Leith

We've not been here very long but we've enjoyed it on the whole.

In terms of this forum, we must say we were well impressed with it when we first arrived here last year. Amazing to have such a vibrant local online resource!

To dip a toe into the recent dramatic events - although I agree there was no real need to delete and move quite innocent threads and posts so arbitrarily, I also agree with wangi that the tone used by some posters is not conducive to an inclusive community forum. I have given up posting on any contentious issues a long time ago. It's a shame it has resulted in resignations.

Best of luck with the new administration, and bye bye.

I hope this doesn't mean you're not going to keep in touch.
I live miles away from Porty now, as does Arachnid but we don't let that stop us.

Speaking of Newhaven, I see that the old Harry Ramsdens is being turning into a Loch Fyne seafood bar and fishmonger

Is this just you trying to be polite and not just say you've had enough of us and you couldn't wait for an excuse to stop posting?

I really hope you don't stop posting - nobody's managed to bag you yet have they  . You could start a new thread all about Leith and we might get to like it so much that we come and join you!

Sandra, you've opened up a whole new world to me - reading those posts, its just what I'm like trying to guess who people are. Why did no-one Spladoosh us yesterday? We are quite civilised and friendly despite appearances. I am confused as to what I am even looking for - there aren't many clues for me to go by.

Thanks for that - a little clearer now. Still not entirely sure what a spladoosh is!?!

We've never been bagged (and therefore probably not spladooshed either). The only time we've met other porty folk really was the sailporty meeting - but I dont think any of those guys are proper posters.

Pb you could check out the gallery to see what Marya and Porty look like (Portobello online) and you can see me and BC under - Sandra and Bearcub. There was a first Scottish Parliament lunch which Porty, PoP, Foxy, Poppy and Plug attended but can't find the link, think it might be deleted now. :(

I found myself wandering round the co-op at tea time thinking wouldn't be mad if I got spladooshed now, but it never happened. Thought it might have been a premonition type thing but alas no....

Fondly remember my first ever spladoosh, by placing my hand on the shoulder of Dadaist as he exited a number 26 bus just next to Kost Konscious.

Then there was the spladoosh-fest in Porty's shop, which turned into a drunken evening indeed!
