Towerbank Primary School

Post by mr magnolia » 28 Jul 2004, 21:33

I know this is a sensitive subject and possibly tricky to gain real comment but is anyone out there willing to offer advice or opinion on how Towerbank performs while it processes your little ones through the system?
I am particulary interested at present in the pre School nursery (does it really exist yet?)
Just asking around now in advance of school admin staff getting back into place in the next week or so.

Comments appreciated. Our eldest is due to start P1 in 2005 and hopefully preschool later this year.

I gather that earlier this year Towerbank Nursery got one of the best inspection reports ever recorded in Edinburgh. The Primary School has had its ups and downs in recent times, but we certainly found that despite some problems with the management and infrastructure of the school the class teaching was excellent. After the holiday a new head with a very good reputation will be taking over. And the top floor of the school offers the best views of any school in the city!

My daughter started at Towerbank Nursery in April and settled in quickly. She is very happy there and the staff are lovely. My daughter is also due to start school in 2005, so when you move to Portobello please contact us so that your little one feels that they know a few faces. I believe that Towerbank are due to become a two stream school over the next few years so our children would have a 50-50 chance of being in the same class.

many thanks for the comments - not much I could do if you said it was terrible but it is always good to get some reassurance!

froglette: I'll certainly see if we can take up your kind invitation to expose our children to one another in a few months also - many thanks. (I will of course wear a brown bag over the head).

Although my two are both now at leaving school age ( ), they both went to Towerbank Nursery and Primary and we had no problems whatsoever. I think it's a good school and, if it counts for anything, a large percentage of last years 6th year at Portobello High was made up of ex Towerbankers!
