Telewest customers

Hey, I'm back! Did you miss me? Unfortunately a lot of other Telewest customers are still not able to access the site. Why? Because we now have a new web host but Telewest customers in Portobello are using DNS servers that still have the old web host server info cached. Or something. It took two lengthy phone calls (the first guy hadn't a clue what he was talking about) before the problem was diagnosed and I was able to assign a DNS that was pointing at the new site.

Hopefully, all other Telewest customers will be back with us soon. I'm advised it can take up to 72 hours. I have noticed that a lot of avatars seem to be missing so we need to fix that and there are probably a few pages (including the home page) that need to be updated. Bear with us.

I will be sending out a mass email for the benefit of those users who are still experiencing a problem. Let's hope that everyone is back online for tomorrow evening's record attempt.

Managed to log in via a Proxy server located in the USA. The things I do for a chat!

At last!
Followed the instructions in the e-mail and got back on. Quite missed dropping in and out over the last couple of days.

I'm back too - wihtout following the instructions, being one of the less techie minded people...!
I might be missing for the record attempt though - we are having a belly dance party on the beach tomorrow afternoon which is set to go indefinitely, although six hours of dancing would be a bit uch even for me.
All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Bellybabe, when is this happening? I heard something about it through a friend but have not been able to find out more. I'm sure it will look lovely, dancing on the beach. Hope you enjoy it!

That explains a lot. I could see the site from work but not at home and put in the Blueyonder webcache.

The party starts at one, outside the bedford (or if weather bad, inside, apparently). I'll be there from 1.30-2 onwards, i think. It's going to take me that long to figure out what to wear!
It's just an informal thing - there are no dance classes through the summer, and we all miss it, so Lorna's organised for us all to get together and dance on the beach. I hope it brightens up!

Telewest were an absolute nightmare on Friday. Apparently I had a "winsock error" - this is despite my machine having been switched off for the last eight months - and this meant they couldn't install broadband.

Whether it was coincidental that this was the engineers last job on a Friday afternoon is a matter of conjecture, but in the end I told them to turn the connection on and I'd battle it myself. In the end it took approximately half an hour to get it up and running - great customer service from Telewest - not!

Not too many changes in Porty after eight months away - a PizzaHut and a new frontage to the Portobello bar being the only changes I've noticed!
