I am reliably informed and hope to be in a positon to provide irrefutable evidence that the park was indeed gifted to the city. The agreement post dated the 1896 document, which happens to be irrelevant. This could well prove to be another setback for those wishing to build a school there.

Even if it was gifted to the city, was it for recreation only ? Or can the "city fathers" decide to use it for another purpose if they feel it benefits trhe city and its residents ?
