CD Recommendatin-Mylo

Post by Porty » 01 Aug 2004, 23:50

Bought a Trance CD yesterday by an Artist called Mylo who is from Edinburgh: 'Destroying Rock and Roll'. Although I m supposedly too old and was declared a Freak by the kids for dancing in the bedroom I can highly recommend it. Track 5 has a sample from Kim Carne's Betty Davis Eyes. I loved the 12 inch danceversion of that song way back in 1981, It still does it for me. :D

Porty,
I'm listening to track 5 right now! The guys in my avatar are perfectly synchronised. I can do that dance too you know!
Sadly though, it doesn't matter how well you move, once you're in your forties and, at any given time, in the eyes of your kids, you're an embarrassment.
Best keep the moves for the bedroom I think.
As for Mylo, I think I quite like it all. Only "acquired" it recently and have still to decide whether it's worth keeping or not.

Orbital always did my favourite samples. I saw them live once, and they did samples from Dollar, Crass, among (many) others.

Kim Carnes..? I always get that song mixed up with The Adverts. For a real laugh, trying singing Bette Davis Eyes to the tune of Looking Through Gary Gilmore's Eyes (or vice versa). I think they were hits around the same time.

He sampling Judie Tzuke (spelling?) now and it's pretty awful as was the original.
Alex, what a challenge! The Adverts doing Kim Carnes and vice versa. That'll keep me busy tonight!
As for Mylo, he may be heading for the big recycle bin in the sky I'm afraid.

Ok, I've acquired some Mylo... He sounds so last century.

Fun, though, if you like 80s techno.

I know what you mean about 'last century' but I like it all the same. I guess I am last century. Gary Gilmore's eyes? I remember the title but for the life of me I cant remember the tune. Is it Carne or Carnes? Tzuke is spelled correctly I believe.

On reflection Track 5 is actually one of the weaker tracks on the album.
