Post by SoupDragon » 26 Jun 2008, 20:38

No not me I'm not brave enough.
Clanger 1 is doing a static line jump on 13th Sept to raise funds for Marie Curie.
Donations most welcome.

An update.
The jump was due today but was cancelled due to awful weather.
Not even the tandems folk who jump from a lower height were allowed to take off

She's passed the training and will reschedule as soon as she can

Will keep you updated.

I'm not sure.
She was all hyped up and ready to do it.
I was just hyped up
Typical of Scotland that it looks fine today!

There were some folk camping next to the hanger in hope of getting up today so think spaces will be very limited. May be a few weeks before she gets another chance.
She'll need to do a wee refresher course then wheeeeeeee.

All the money raised will be going direct to Marie Curie as shes paid for the training etc herself

How much has she raised?

And out of idle curiosity how much training does one get before jumping oot the plane? A few hours?

A wee update
We were up at Strathallan again today.
Although the skies cleared it was too windy for her to jump.
They did send a plane up with 4 experienced jumpers, only 3 of them left the plane!
At least we got to see how it looks and wow they land very gently.

The initial training lasts a day, from 8am til 5ish, they'll spend as much time as needed to make sure everyone is familiar with what will happen and what to do, ie how to deploy the emergency chute if needed.

She did a refresher course today and will need to do another when she goes back.

All the money she's raised is going to the Marie Curie as she's paid for the training herself

for current total see

I must have spent most of our journey home on Sat. aquaplaning, SD. Glencoe was the wettest and wildest I've ever seen it. I'm full of admiration for Clanger 1 for hanging on in there. It must be tough psyching yourself up to complete the jump only for it to be cancelled.

She did it today!
First time I've not gone up to Strathallen with her so she flings herself out a plane!

I've heard reports that you could tell it was her jumping as her screams were heard on the ground.

Congratulations to my brave girl

Well done, Clanger 1.

I don't suppose she was in a fit state or had time, but the view from up there must have been fabulous! We were near Kinross today and saw wee planes - maybe one was hers!!
