Music at Mei Li

Post by cornerboy » 19 Nov 2008, 14:43

Mei Li on the High St is the venue for a monthly songwriters' night. Hosted by musicians, Mairi Campbell and David Francis, the night features short spots from them and guest songwriters. The first one was trialed earlier this month, and the next night is on 1 December, at 7.30 (finishing just after 9) with Campbell and Francis, another Porty musician, Polly Phillips, and Andi Neate.

The quality is high, the coffee is the best in Porty, and it's a great atmosphere. Hope to see you there![/list]

Are Mairi Campbell and David Francis the same people credited on the Sex & the City movie for their rendition of Auld Lang Syne? Small world if so as a friend and I just slo-mo'ed the credits to find out exactly who did sing it.

The Cast

Aye, it's the same Dave and Mairi as Sex And The City. They sing in a band called The Cast, and they also play in Bella McNabs ceilidh band.

Quite possibly - the current manager is leaving to pursue a long desired dream in London. She is sad to be leaving Mei Li as they have been her employers since she left school, but if you can't a chase a dream when you're barely in your 20s ....
