Pramonition?

Post by Bob Jefferson » 21 Nov 2008, 09:37

Earlier this week I spotted a young mother pushing her baby in a pram. It looked like one of those designs where you can put the cot in either a forward or reverse position. In her case it was turned so that it was facing away from her. She was taking her baby for a walk but was unable to make eye contact or, presumably, any other form of communication. She wouldn't be able to see if her baby had been sick or was otherwise distressed unless alerted by the sound of crying.

It seemed unnatural. Surely, any parent would want to face their child and have some interaction as they walked? My wife agreed but told me that forward facing designs were very popular.

And then this morning I read this:

Forward-facing buggies 'can cause mental harm to babies'

Not if the baby is unspeakably ugly and getting it out for a hurl in this front facing buggy gives it's poor Mum a bit of respite from looking upon it's hideous visage.

Bit unfair to inflict the horror on the public at large, mind you.

Yes, and you're gorgeous so my theory about ugliness doesn't apply in your case.

Mind you, a lot of ugly babies turn out more easy on the eye as they grow, so............................

Reminds me of one of my Aunties who had an ugly baby and people allegedly used to say to her "Oh, Margaret....what a lovely pram"

I had a pram that faced me and a buggy that faced out. Does that make my children schizophrenic?
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

As I remember I had a buggy that could either face me or face outwards and had the option for the wean to lie down flat ( ish ) in the middle
Cant mind the makeof the buggy but think it was yellow/grey striped
