well I delayed our walk this morning in order to watch the Mens Beach Volleyball

I'm sorely disappointed - so much for equality for the viewer. The men wear long baggy shorts and vests :(

I guess there's always the gymnastics, the swimming and the athletics for you to gawk at while I am away at work and you are (supposedly) bringing up our child, dear.

But D, BB is doing the right thing - it's important to encourage children into sport to avoid the dreaded obesity that is it seems their almost inevitable fate...

Especially the men's synchronised diving event - TWO gorgeous bods for the price of one!

That was wild last night... men colliding off of diving boards, falling flat on their backs in the water.

Cool.

Why can't all sport be as exciting.

lol Alex

the excitement of the diver bashing his feet on the springboard was only rivalled by the male gynmast falling off the high bar when he was doing some sort of complicated swingy somersault thing

But what was the Coach trying to do? Save him or commit suicide by squashing?
Oh, and have you been watching the weightlifting? They are NOT women!

Some correspondence from last year:

Dear Councilman Yoon,

I am writing to you from Edinburgh, Scotland, and I must first congratulate you on an excellent website - www.artyoon.com which clearly outlines your dedication to the people of Hermosa Beach.

Having looked at the HermosaCam at www.hermosawave.net/webcam for several months now after meeting one of your constituents, Jessica Caldwell, while she was on vacation in Scotland over the New Year period I have become intrigued by the volleyball courts which are an obviously very popular feature of the Hermosa beach front.

Volleyball is a growing sport in Scotland and I would dearly like to convince our local council that it would be a viable option to construct such facilities on the Portobello beach front.

http://www.clanconnelly.com/agallery/portobello.html gives a not so good picture of the beach, but you get the idea. I know we don't receive as many sun hours as yourselves but I still think that these facilities would be well received.

Therefore if you have any information about the cost and constructions of the beach volleyball courts then I'd appreciate it if you could forward it on to me, and I'll pass it on to my local councilman over here. Any printed literature can be picked up by Jessica and she can forward it on to myself. Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards

James

James,

I visited Scotland and the UK in 2000. It was a blast. I even played golf at St. Andrews. Talk about history! In my life, besides Pebble Beach (I'm a California patriot after all), I have never played a more fun course.

Thanks for your note. I'll ask Lisa Lynn at our Community Resources department if she has a contact and also cc Dave Williams at the Assn of V-ball Pros. I'm sure they have an interest in promoting beach volleyball around the globe.

Good luck and keep the Hermosa experience in your heart and come visit often.

Art

Steve, Can you plz. forward this to Lisa?
Dave, Can you point us in the right direction?
