I was parked outside Portobello Town Hall today and made a few observations.
The Harry Lauder commerative garden on the right hand side has had a tremendous amount of work done to it. It is beautiful. I know that Tom Smith has put a lot of work into this and probably others too.
The left side of the Town Hall is overgrown with weeds and the window boxes on the front of the building are in a sad state.
It seems a shame that this complementary work by the community should be undermined by a lack of general maintenance.
The Town Hall is the central focal point of Portobello and was illuminated as a gift to the town by Scottish Power.
It would be good if the Halls Department tidied up their bits!

Seem to remember the question of maintenance of the window boxes was raised at the most recent CC meeting so expect some action soon. Also plans to renovate and/or replace the community notice boards at the Town Hall and Police Station. Agree, the Harry Lauder garden is a credit to everyone involved. Things improve, little by little.
