Olympics- the suffering it causes

Post by flearoy » 18 Aug 2004, 21:01

my family is obsessed with sport, especially my mum who is a P.E teacher. Sadly on this subject i am the black sheep of the family and it drives me mad as in my house there is practically 24 hour a day viewing of the olympics.

I just don't get it! it's like the same program every 4 years but with different people in a different place-not as if that makes a diffrence a stadium is a stadium after all.

I agree that some things humans can do is incrediable especially the gymnastics etc. but haven't we seen it many many times before?

The Uk never wins anyway.
there's no excuses you have the same length of time as shakespeare and van goth.

It's horses for courses Flearoy - generally I agree with you (especially football) but with 60-odd channels to choose from there's usually something else on.

If you can get at the Telly, of course.

flearoy - I agree with all you say!

I'm off work and not only annoyed to be ill but, even more, annoyed to be ill while 'sport' is on!! And the weather means I can't really go out to escape and get fresh air [and porty people spot!] - and for some reason even the shows on cable are rubbish this week! It's a conspiracy

I'm not too into the Olympics but if they showed a bit more of the Olympic U23 football I'd be more interested - some fanastic games so I've heard, but even on Eurosport its all delayed.

On a related note - Berti must go!

You don't get the Olympics. Whats to get. Its just people from all over the world who love thier sports competing against each other. If you don't like it dont watch it, I am sure something like big brother or hollyoaks will be on and thats a lot more interesting i am sure.

If you remain unmoved by the Pinsent. Coode, Cracknell and Williams performance this morning then you are no right in the heid.

Something vaguely to do with rowing I gather? Just wait until I've finished whittling this canoe - I'll leave Prozac, Codeine, Crack-head and Valiums standing. Which pharmaceutical company are sponsoring them anyway?

Can anyone who says they hate the Olympics say they weren't impressed by Kelly Holmes winning the Gold in the 800m tonight.

Here's someone who has been racing for years and has always been close but never quite there, racing in her 2nd choice event and admitting beforehand she wasn't confident, becoming Olympic champion.

I have to admit i had a big grin and a tear in my eye watching her after winning it :D
