the answer is that Chris' Uncle Derek has lived in Portobello for over 25 years. He is also the fantastic fiddler in Jock Tamson's Bairns.

Not only that but he is also a fantastic fiddler in local ceilidh sensations, the Bella McNabs.

She's his cousin. Jenny and Sarah, like their pop, are also fine musicians. Jenny plays and teaches percussion down around Leeds, and Sarah is a great young fiddler. You can hear her playing with Derek on the CD 'Heat the Hoose 2' (Footstompin), an anthology of some of the best of the burgeoning of fiddle talent in Scotland these days. What any of them are like whizzing round a velodrome, I couldn't say.
