Enjoying the non-Bank Holiday

Post by Jay » 26 Aug 2004, 15:13

I'm fleeing the country tomorrow ........ off to an undiscovered and beautiful area of England for the English Bank Holiday - Furness - Morecambe Bay on one side, Duddon Estuary on the other, Lakeland mountains behind -

Sorry I can't help with the Marlborough Street Tidy-up, but I hope everyone has fun (!), and also at Bob's Prom Stagger in the evening .... and anything else any of you may be doing ? ...........

Jay,
Have a lovely weekend. Hopefully the weather will be nice for you.
I bet you're sorry to miss out on the marlborough make over. I shall admire the results as I wait for my bus on Sunday morning.

So, that's what you get up to when you leave work early "for some rest"!
Did you get any bargains?

Dearest ECM,

I did not go into Red Giant - just noticed it was open as I passed it on my way home! :)

Jay,
Hope you had a great time. I once had a holiday at Morecambe...lovely place with a stunning view of the power station.

Just got back - once I got there, I had a superb time, as always - amazing scenery, peace and quiet, good friends, good food, good beer - what more can you ask for ...........
:sunny: :occasion5: :drunken: :love8: :D

I'd post pictures, but I'm one of those with an old-type FILM camera, that has to wait to be developed.

The journey down was Virgin classic - 2 trainloads of people crammed into 5 hastily-assembled carriages, after the non-arrival of any carriages at Glasgow - I paid £50 for the privilage of standing for 2 hours from Motherwell to Lancaster, in war-time conditions. :banghead: Maybe I should start a 'Worst Train Journey You Ever Had' thread.

If the Red Giant is STILL open on Saturday, I shall be the one pelting along Porty High Street with a barrow ........

So what did everyone else do ..............?
Had a very quiet time Jay.
Couple of leisurely trips to the Blue Bean. Leisurely walks round the Brightons/Rosefield.
Saw the most amazing butterflies hovering around the Figgy burn whilst crossing the little footbridge that leads into Adelphi Place (is that the right street? the one with the lovely wee cottages?).
As usual we didn't have our camera with us.
We always seem to miss out on photo opportunities.
Glad to hear your weekend was so good - barring the train journey of course.

We had a quiet time too. Managed to sneak out to the library book sale for an hour or so on Saturday, but that was about all. spent Sunday having our annual massive row. The bank holiday was youngest bellybaby's first day at nursery, so spent most of it running up and down Brighton Place between school times and nursery times...
V dull all in all.
