This Sunday a very small bunch of friendly folks will be playing a bizarre espionage game in the centre of town. The game is called "Identity" and involves playing either an Agent or an Arms Dealer - objectives vary accordingly but the game involves alternating your time between clandestine meetings with other players, spying on said meetings or using the internet system set up for the game - a sort of email system which is the only way communications can be made, which may or may not be bugged by other players.
So, if you've ever fancied yourself as a spy or even an arms dealer then come and play with us for a day - it's fun and completely free. Rumours that we are calling for players because Mark Thatcher had to drop out of the game at the last minute are untrue - we're just a wee bit short and the game works better with more players.
PM me if interested.

What's the big deal? It's just a Computer Aided Metro Area Game.

It was a riot. There were 9 of us - 5 agents and 4 arms dealers. Some parts of the day were highly stressful as we competed with each other to build our respective bombs whilst trying to retain anonymity. Other parts were hilarious as we lied and scammed our way through the day.
My personal highlights were :
1) only one player managed to guess my identity (I was the Chinese agent) and that was through a process of elimination rather than a mistake on my part
2) I had managed to get every part of the Warped Anti-Matter Plasmaflux Distortion Annihilator by 5pm and spent the rest of the game extracting identity information from other arms dealers and not paying for it.
3) going to one meeting with arms dealer "Cobra" pretending to have been sent by the Chinese agent, doing the deal and then contacting the dealer claiming that my messenger had not turned up with the part and wasn't able to pay him - he was completely scammed and remained very helpful until the end of the game as we tried to locate me.
4) watching the real pros at work - whilst my espionage skills are so-so (I came 3rd out of the agents) there were some genius players at work - the winners of both the agent and dealer games were a pair who formed a pact early on in the game to pretend to be each other - they fooled everybody playing
The de-briefing was an absolute scream - we had all piled back to somebodys flat once the game was over and everybody revealed their identities to each other - we then proceeded to work out what had happened and who had scammed who and how - it took 2 hours.
I had to leave work early today as I am still knackered, but it was an amazing day.
