Moderator's masterclasses

Post by Guest » 26 Aug 2004, 18:47

These now have a forum of their own - called "How do I". The idea is that by putting all the masterclasses in one place, it will serve as a valuable resource that will always be available.

A forum member PM'd me today to suggest a Masterclass on how to include quotations in your posts - so that will be the second masterclass in a week or so.

Any other suggestions? Another one I thought of myself was all the abbreviations that get used on the board -- BTW (by the way), PM (private message), ROTFL (roll on the floor laughing) etc. That's another topic for a future Masterclass.

<edit: just realised that sounds awfully formal, so here's a smiley:  >

I haven't forgotten! I've just been very busy. "How do I use quotes in my posts?" is coming in a day or two. And I may even have sorted out the grammar in that question before then.

Technically, that's netiquette. And that's a minefield I intend avoiding!

Various ways... One way is, when you're opening a link, right-click and select "Open in new tab". It will open behind your current window, and you then have two tabs at the top of the screen. You can swap between the windows by clicking the tabs.

Very useful for googling, as you can open results in a new tab, so the search results are always available.

Another way to open a new tab is to select "new tab" from the file window.

Tabbed browsers are one of those things you love or hate. I love them. But then, I hate marmite.

BTW: Congratulations on being the second-highest poster on the board! I'm down to number three...
