Help needed with samsung phone !

Have samsung galaxy ace phone GTS 5830. There was an update recently. This has caused the text function to crash. Update is now available but find myself unable to download it to our pc ??? It needs keies from samsung which runs with vista or windows 7 . We're using Windows XP. Tried upgrading on internet to no avail . Keeps coming back to download keies . PLEASE can anybody help.

I done a quick Google... Sounds like the Kies program is a right nightmare! Sounds like it can work on XP, but best be Merlin to get that going. You know anyone with Win 7?

No to windows 7 . Yes about Merlin , tried for 2 days and was feeling a right muppet. cheers for that

Now now - if you had done that it would be obvious what a pile of crap Samsung have cobbled together and there's far from an easy solution to the problem.

Have tried , kies is just not solving problem. 2 other pals have tried as well so it's not just us . Virgin contract phone . They can't sort it either , happy days (not) To text you have to switch off 3g ? thanks and will keep you updated .

Can't believe it. yesterday I gave up my Galaxy s for the Galaxy s11 (i9100) it is awesome, knocks teh iphone into a hat. However, Kies is not talking to it, as I cannot put the phone in PC studio mode and I can't find help.
