Should we restrict viewing to registered members?
Should we restrict viewing to registered members? The decision is yours and we will go with the majority. The idea is that it might encourage lurkers to register as they wouldn't be able to read messages otherwise. Having registered they might then be more likely to become posters.
Already you have to be a registered member to post. This takes it one stage further. But is it a step in the right direction, or a step too far? You decide!

Of course, Porty's quite right - if it isn't causing any technical problems then leave it alone.
This is an open community not a gated one - people come and go. That's the way it should be. You can't force people to talk if they don't want to.
ecm and I watch another forum all the time and have hardly ever contributed to it but we wouldn't want to not be able to pop in and see how everyone is on there. It's like a little soap opera for us. Maybe THIS forum is somebody elses little soap opera!!!!

Some lurkers have to lurk because they do not have regular on-line access, and can't join in, but still enjoy reading. Others like to read, but are too shy to join in, or feel they haven't anything to contribute, or live too far away to contribute to the local discussions.administrator wrote:The idea is that it might encourage lurkers to register as they wouldn't be able to read messages otherwise.
