In the spirit of 'Positive Porty', and to counter claims of anonymous bullying, here is an opportunity to declare your true identity. I'll go first:

I may be mistaken but wasn't the issue with Seashell her credentials for opining on the school not her real identity.

Good to see you Gillian can't be long before you disprove Epykats theory.

I think the reason Epykat has an issue with me is because I dared to speak up for the school on the park!

Isn’t it about time that some of you grew up?

Seashell, Epykat is not a bully, she’s a wind-up merchant who is clearly pushing your buttons, just in the same way that Lashylass knows how to get Seanie going. If you feel you are being bullied, then I suppose for you you are being bullied, but I don’t think that was the intent of her posting.

LIke others on here, I am on a number of other social networking sites which are much more vicious and on which genuine bullying takes place.

My daughter had the experience of being the witness in a court case and, along with other witnesses on the ‘wrong’ side, finding her witness statement posted on-line, being ripped apart and her branded as a liar. That is genuine bullying. The person who perpetrated it received 200 hours community service.

It was perhaps inevitable, if regrettable, that the school issue was going to be divisive. Stripping out the merits of the case on both sides (and there are merits on both sides), the arguments have reduced to name calling and mud slinging. There have been occasions when that has gone over the top and there are some people who have posted here and elsewhere who should go back and re-read what they have said about other people and reflect on whether their behaviour was that of a mature adult or someone who still had not outgrown the playground......... however, what they were doing was not bullying, only childish.

On the identity issue I don’t give a toss either way if people reveal their real selves or not.

Oh go on - I much prefer being a bully - and scary - don't forget scary! I've never been either before so just let me revel in it a wee bit longer. A whole new persona in my 51st year - exciting :D

(sorry, forgot I'm also a vacuous bullshitting liar, wouldn't want that part of my personality to be missed :D )

Everyone on here gives as good as they get - we all do so lets not pretend Seashell.
Sean and I used to be at loggerheads and if we can be civil to each other and just get on with our common purpose - to make Portobello the best place it can be then why can't you and Avril? Avril is no bully believe me. She's lovely in real life and you'd probably both get on if you drew a line. Portobello needs people to pull together and rid us of the real problems.

Lashylass is quite a bit nastier than a "wind up "merchant. All of the following were directed at Bob and anyone who is familar with the history of Edinburgh Sucks and Bob, will know how bad the blood is.
lashylass wrote: I have no intention of apologising for anything I have said. I was merely reiterating a fact stated by Bob Jefferson some time ago that his daughter would be going to a different school. If he chooses to publicly comment on where his daughter will be schooled why should he question anyone else menti...

lashylass wrote: Bob Jefferson obviously doesn't rate the education at Porty High as he has previously stated that he will be sending his daughter elsewhere. It does make you question why he is therefore obsessed with building a school on a park which will have no relevance to his daughter's education.

lashylass wrote: Local shopkeepers are putting their own posters up Betty - they don't have to be coerced. And local parents will note which ones are supporting us. The above quote from Bob Jefferson implies that local parents will support the shops with posters up. Does that mean they should boycott all the others...
lashylass wrote: Why is everyone silent when Bob Jefferson's comments are quoted? Could it be you're all speechless because he is accusing PPAG of doing something he was already guilty of? Mmmmmm makes you think doesn't it? Is everyone scared of him?

lashylass wrote: Absolutely no difference at all. It does however show that nobody is brave enough to challenge the statement he made on here.

lashylass wrote: Some interesting posts on Edinburgh Sooks - worth a look!

lashylass wrote: Someone using different identities to get his kicks - are you describing yourself there?
And the rest of its posts are littered with goes at Sean and TP itself; "what's happened to Betty has she been banned".

It has contributed NOTHING substantive to the school debate, it won't engage, just an anonymous shit stirrer.

I would go as far as to say - TP should be reinvented as a open and transparent forum with a requirement to register as yourself. I dont think its healthy that we should tolerate the anonymity. If it means we all transfer to somewhere that's not anonymous then so be it. Giving the Edin Sooks brigade and their bed partners airspace and letting them wind you up is what they want. Fork the lot of them.

Fight? I'm all for a bit of girl on girl action. Seriously, I would welcome a rule that required users to register using their real names and I think we would soon spot fake identities and those people should be barred. It would be naive to imagine that this in itself would solve every problem, but I think it would discourage the trolls and lead to people engaging with each other in a more respectful manner.

Once the school proceeds I fully expect "hostilities"will subside and the issue of anonymity will be less contentious. A mix of real and anonymous can work, it did work for quite a number of years. In 2002 internet forums were newish and for some, POL was the first experience. Some people registered using their real names and felt disadvantaged when jousting with an anon. Dccairns was one example, I remember her telling me. For my part I knew Diana as she was my neighbour but I didn't know her second name or that the d stood for Diana so dccairns appeared anonymous to me.

I'm not sure what Bob intended when he set the site up but overall it has been a big success. be a pity to allow the Trolls to "win".

I'm really pleased that Sean and PB have reconciled.
