As local residents will be aware, the race course runs along Brighton Place, as well as the High Street and the Promenade and obviously some road closures and parking restrictions have been made necessary for fairly obvious health and safety reasons. I personally look forward to this sporting spectacle and I’m sure that many local people will line the route. I confess, that as a local resident, I find it difficult to find sympathy with the reverend or his congregation, many of which park dangerously, illegally, thoughtlessly and in a most un-christian-like fashion every other Sunday of the year in the surrounding streets. As joint chair of the Brightons Residents Association I receive many complaints regarding this and I can advise the reverend that parking restrictions, in the form of double yellow lines, will curtail such anti-social parking opportunites on a more permanent basis in future.
