Vive la France!

Post by Guest » 09 Sep 2004, 22:32

Thought you mght be interested to read a message I received recently from one of our neighbours who re-located to France a year or so ago. The photos feature a couple of forum members who are currently over there on holiday. I can't tell you how envious I am!
Dear Bob,

Couple of photos from last night's communal meal in the marketplace in Belvès. Stephen et Diana reckon this should be given a go in Portie!!! Incidentally I made the courgette tart that is in one of the photos...'tis the season of plenty here...made with our courgettes, our onions and our hens' eggs. It is so easy to grow things here...

Observe Stephen's beautiful yellow plastic cup and the fact that the wine bottle is empty. What with Rose and Tommy et famille never being away from their house (just down the road in Siorac), and a steady stream of Portie-based visitors, there is no escape from the auld homelands! Samuel is possibly the only boy in the Dordogne to have 4 Hibs tops...

Hope to see you in October when we are over. Stephen tells me that the Old Pier on a Thurs evening is the place to be!?

Cheers

Andrew

I think they are a little better prepared than most. Andrew's wife is French and the kids have been brought up to be bi-lingual. Why am I telling you this? You know them don't you?

I wouldn't worry, I call her Diane half the time. I'm sure she's used to it! Do you think she's logging in in Belves? (I never did find out how to do a grave did I?)

Meanwhile, back in Belvès :
Bob,

Sadly the final day in the Dordogne for Stephen and Diana...we ate lunch in our garden, beautiful sunny day and they had bought a bottle of champagne.

Hard life, but someone has to do it...

Diana tried to post to the forum from hi-tech broadband linked Belvès, but it seemed to have gone astray somewhere!? I think that she was pointing out that Rosie and Tommy celebrated Bastille Day here in 1999...the start oof the Porty-Belvès link?

Just had good fun looking at your galleries and trying to identify all the children! Incredible how quickly they change...

Cheers

We're just back from Paris. Had a great time. A bit expensive though.

No...don't be silly! But...got back last night...tired, lethargic and brain dead.
I will tell more when I've fully arrived home.

Back home

It's hard to believe that phooto was only taken three days ago. And now we are back to gritty reality. C'est la vie! I think we should twin porty with Belves and organise subsidised exchange visits. Bonne nuit les enfants.

Some of our neighbours are very civilised people. I believe one of them even took a bath last night.

dont be too hasty it certainly wasn't me. I think flearoy has some explaining to do and it better be soon.

Actually, im to blame. The dog s hit incident created an immediate need for water, I suggested a source and the rest is history.... or lets hope it history.
